When Times Get Tough, Remember Why You Started.

Rough day? It feels like this is a series of long days in a really long week. It’s so hard sometimes.

We all have times where the weight of the world is on us, and it feels like it’s only getting heavier.  We start to think about how much better we would feel if we stopped, if we just threw in the towel.  Sure, it would feel good to put down this huge weight for just a moment, but then tomorrow we will encounter the pain of failure, and the pressure to start over from scratch.

We are made to succeed, but sometimes it is really hard.  How do we get over those humps, especially when everyday feels like hump day? What can we do when we feel it all starting to slip away and we KNOW we want to keep going forward, that we MUST keep going?

Stop for a moment.  Zoom out from your current situation, forgetting the load and the pain.  Ask yourself this question: “Why did I get started with all of this?”

Why did you start this job? Why did you start this family? Why did you start going to the gym? Why did you start?

When you remember the fact that you wanted this job to support your family so your children could have a proper education and a good start on life, that annoying boss fades away.  When you remember WHY you started you know WHY you need to continue. Sure, there are problems in life, but that feeling that you started with, THAT is why we are enduring this situation.  Surely, that desire to lose weight, or to get a college degree is something you still want.  This pain is how you get that which you desire.  Those results are on their way.  That feeling of success comes from those last few repetitions at the gym, from these late night study sessions, from the sleepless nights with a teething baby.

We are in it to win it, and winning is why we came here in the first place.  Replace those thoughts of how hard it is with how much you want that end result.  Replace that thought with how awesome it will be when you walk across the stage with your diploma, or you walk your child down the aisle.

Eric Thomas says that your pain is a part of your prize.  Take that pain that you are enduring and transform it into the fuel of success.  Your success is on its way. Just keep going. You know why you started and you know it is going to be awesome. Victory is yours.
